Mr. - Nobody Dies upcoming gallery show
Lehmann Maupin Presents: Mr. - Nobody Dies
Leading contemporary art gallery Lehmann Maupin will host Japanese artist Mr.’s sophomore solo exhibition in New York starting Thursday, November 6th, at Lehmann Maupin’s recently added 201 Chrystie Street space.
A member of Takahashi Murakami (ζδΈι)’s Kaikai Kiki art troupe, Mr. explores the Japanese sub-culture known as Otaku and its implications in wide range of contemporary culture in Japan, be it in anime, manga, or the entertainment industry. These observations also led to some of his most explicit work, blurring the boundaries between all these modern cultural elements.
The new installation will mark the U.S. premiere of Mr.’s new film, Nobody Dies, inspired by his previous painting, It Hurts When It Hits Bare Skin, as well as recent works on paper and his first photograph collection.
