Tomokazu Matsuyama Glancing at the Twin Peak Exhibition

This Friday, February 6th, will mark the opening of Glancing at the Twin Peak, the first solo exhibition of artist Tomokazu Matsuyama at Joshua Liner Gallery in Chelsea.

Formerly known as MATZU-MTP, Matsuyama was one of first pioneering Japanese artist to bridge the cultural differences between Japan and America. His exposure to both cultures at an early age gave him and his works distinctiveness unlike any other, a style which does not fall in either American Pop-Art or Japanese Contemporary circles. Instead, portions of his work resonate certain iconic aspect of each culture, but never as a whole. This signature is reflected in Glancing at the Twin Peak, a reference to 2 creative geniuses of the past – painter Sanraku Kano from 16th century Japan and Frederic Remington of 19th century America.

The exhibition will be on display till April 4th, 2009
